Layout system
Logo placement and proportion
The Oxford logo should always be placed in the bottom left corner of any application. The logo proportions are roughly based on the width of two columns in a 12-column grid, or approximately 1/6 the width of the application.
The logo size is highly dependent on the application dimension, proportions, and use, so use discretion and best practices when placing a new logo.
Grid and placing content
It is important to start your layouts by defining a pleasing size for identity elements within a layout grid which should also be used to arrange all components. Keep in mind that the aim of the grid is to provide a visual rhythm and order. If the resulting layouts appear awkward or overly rigid, the grid should be adjusted or not all elements need to be sized to an even unit.
Text, images, logos, and hairlines should work harmoniously, while still maintaining flexibility for different layouts depending on the content.
Hairlines
Vertical and horizontal lines are used throughout the brand as a way to anchor content to the underlying grid and organize content within space. Hairlines are a nice callback to the Oxford logo, but they should be used sparingly in applications outside of the templates provided.
Hairline stroke width should fall around 1pt stroke weight, or 1 pixel thick. Ensure the hairlines are always a consistent thickness within the same application and don’t appear too thick or too thin.
