Icons

Oxford icons

Our icon style should always aim to strike a balance between being professional, modern, and simple while always using a unified style.

This style is defined by a flat overall look without unnecessary details or depth, circles and ends on at least half the strokes all set in a single colour. Line thickness should match existing examples.

Icons may be set into an outline or solid containing circle. This helps unify multiple icons used in series and in close alignment with other content. This is specifically useful when the icons being used have contrasting outer shapes or alignments.

Icon usage best practices

Over-use of icons can create unnecessary detail, and can dilute the information you’re trying to convey.

Instead, pull out the stat where possible to create the visual anchor through text size contrast.

Use the icon set to signal an action. These can be used for things like CTAs, warnings, checklists, etc.
